Ryazan training seminar
A new charitable programme called “Russia. Living with disability” was launched by Partners in Hope in Ryazan on February 21. The first of the 8 planned trainings brought together 97 professionals working with disabled children and their families. These professionals include both non-governmental organization workers and representatives of educational and medical institutions such as Ryazan Pedagogic Institute, correctional education schools and kindergartens; hospitals and polyclinics.
The leading experts of the Center for Curative Pedagogic (Moscow) led a 3-day seminar covering such topics as the basics of the curative pedagogy; the principles of team approach in the rehabilitation of disabled children and the models of their integration into the system of general education. A significant emphasis was given to developing special skills such as methods of correcting behavioral and spatial disturbances, applying the methods of sensor stimulation, organization of assistance at different stages of a “special” child’s life. The professionals participated in master-classes on dance therapy, case studies, description of practical classes.
Specialists of the Center for Curative Pedagogic (CCP) provided consultations for 8 children with developmental disorders. The colleagues from Ryazan were very interested in the recommendations and actively discussed the program of individual development for the young children.
A very productive round table discussion was held with parents and members of NGO “A road to the world”. They were very interested in the information presented on the legal activity of CCP, the parents’ initiatives on development of integrative education, establishing places of supported living for young people with developmental disorders in Moscow.
In the training coverage the Ryazan TV broadcast interviews withthe key staff and organizers of the event – Anna Bitova, President of CCP, and Inga Okruzhnaya, Director of the Moscow representative office of “Partners in Hope” – who shared information about the new training program and their further plans.
After the training, the participants expressed their sincere gratitude to The Center for Curative Pedagogic and Partners in Hope for the relevance and pertinent information presented in the seminar. They expressed their desire to further develop active collaboration.
